AI for scholarly publishing and research
We build and run AI tools for journal publishers: manuscript screening, copyediting checks, reviewer discovery and issue production. Most were built for our group company STM Journals and its partners.

Publishing is where we have the most experience. We build and run tools that help editors screen manuscripts, check copyediting, find reviewers and produce issues. Most were built for our group companies, and editors make every final decision.
Where AI helps
- Screening new submissions against a journal’s scope and author guidelines.
- Checking manuscripts for text overlap and copyediting quality.
- Finding suitable reviewers and editors, with an explanation for each suggestion.
- Assembling issues, cover pages and tables of contents.
- Managing DOIs and preprints.
Compliance notes
- Confidential manuscripts. Unpublished manuscripts and reviewer identities are confidential. Ask any AI vendor where text is processed and whether it is used to train models.
- Human decisions. Keep editors responsible for accept and reject decisions, and tell authors how AI is used in your process.
- India’s DPDP Act 2023 and Rules 2025. Substantive duties apply from 14 May 2027. They include a plain-language notice, withdrawal of consent that is as easy as giving it, a grievance officer contact and breach notices. Registration of consent managers opens in Nov 2026.
- GDPR and UK GDPR. They apply when you handle personal data of people in the EU or the UK. Expect questions about lawful basis, data export and deletion, sub-processors and transfers.
- EU AI Act, Article 50. Since 2 Aug 2026, a chatbot must tell people they are talking to an AI, and AI-generated images and video need a label.
